CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (C-Pro)
This course is designed for the rescuer with a duty to respond (such as lifeguards, CNA’s, RN’s, etc.), or anyone with a desire to learn advanced CPR knowledge. Course content covers how to recognize and respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, infants, and children, along with two-person CPR, the use of body substance isolation precautions to prevent disease transmission, use of resuscitation bag-valve masks, along with the use of an AED for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.
Prerequisite: None. Pre-registration with payment is required for all classes.
Fee: $45.00-Includes your participant manual and a CPR pocket mask.
Course Length: 8 hours-
Certification: Upon successful completion of hands on skills demonstration and multiple choice test, students will receive a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification. The certification for Health Care Professionals is valid for two years (Equivalent to Basic Life Support-BLS). Our C-Pro certification for Lifeguards is valid for one year.
First Aid and CPR for the Community (FA/CPR)
This comprehensive course includes: Adult, Child and Infant CPR, rescue breathing, choking rescue, and first aid skills including treatment of burns, fractures, sprains, seizures, bleeding control, sudden illness, injuries, poisoning, heat and cold emergencies.
Prerequisite: None. Pre-registration with payment is required for all classes.
Fee: $40.00-Includes your participant manual.
Course Length: 8 hours- This course is either scheduled for one eight-hour day of training or two four-hour days over two consecutive evenings. You must attend both evenings to receive certification.
Certification: Upon successful completion of hands on skills demonstration and multiple choice test, students will receive an Adult, Child, Infant CPR certification valid for 1 year and a Community First Aid & Safety certification valid for 3 years.

Workplace Training-Standard First Aid with or without AED
This course provides individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care including adult CPR, rescue breathing, choking, injuries, sudden illness, and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest until advanced medical personnel arrives.
Prerequisite: None. Pre-registration with payment is required for all classes.
Fee: $35.00-Includes your participant manual.
Course Length: 6 hours-This course is scheduled for businesses that have at least six employees to be trained. We can either send an instructor to your business or the training can be held at our office if you do not have the space.
Certification: Upon completion of hands on skills demonstration and multiple choice test, students will receive a Workplace Training Adult CPR Certification valid for 1 year and a Standard First Aid certification valid for 3 years.
Baby Sitters Training
The purpose of the Babysitter’s Training course is to provide youth ages 11-15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training program is a fun, interactive course that will teach your child to; supervise children and infants, be a good leader and role model, make good decisions-solve problems-and stay safe, handle emergencies such as injuries-illness-and household accidents, and also learn business skills such as writing a resume and interviewing for a job.
Prerequisite: None. Pre-registration with payment is required for all courses.
Fee: $45.00- Includes your Babysitter’s Training Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide, CD-ROM, a Red Cross tote, and snacks throughout the day.
Course Length: 7 hours-Because students are not able to drive we request that they each bring a sack lunch to class. We do have a microwave and refrigerator available for their convenience.
Certification: Upon completion of hands on skills demonstration, students will receive a certification with no expiration date.
Challenge-Recertification
Anyone with a current certification that is about to expire is eligible to challenge the course that they were trained in the previous year. You would come into the office at the scheduled time, for a competency testing of skills and knowledge, with no allowance for review or practice with an instructor. You may use a participant manual to review on your own briefly, before your test begins. If you are not able to pass the skills and written test on the first attempt you will be required to enroll in a full course which is normally about 8 hours.
Prerequisite: You must have a current certification that is about to expire (Bring it with you for verification). You will be attending a re-certification to demonstrate skills and knowledge obtained the previous year.
Fee: $20 For one component (Adult CPR), $25 for two components (Adult CPR & First Aid) $30 for three or more components (Adult/Child/Infant CPR & First Aid).
Course Length: We are able to take the first ten people who register for the challenge and it is scheduled for two hours. You basically work at your own pace, once you are here you can review a participant manual on your own and then let the instructor know when you are ready to test. He will give you the written test, once you pass that he will ask you to demonstrate the skills on the manikin. When you pass the test and skills you will receive a new certificate and you are free to leave.
Certification: CPR certificates will be valid 1 year for Lay Responders and Lifeguards. CPR certificates for Health Care Professionals are valid for 2 years. First Aid certificates will be valid for 3 years from the challenge date.
First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course
You will learn to teach the newest American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) courses. This program features a modular design to allow customization, it has been revised to meet the latest CPR guidelines, and is designed to meet the specific needs of workplaces, including OSHA requirements. Our instructor course includes precourse testing of first aid/CPR skills and knowledge, practice teaching, and written tests.
Prerequisite: You must be at least 17 years of age. First Aid/CPR/AED certification is strongly recommended. The course will begin with a skills test and written test, candidates must demonstrate mastery of Adult/Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Skills. Attendance at all class sessions is required.
Fee: $135.00-Includes instructor materials and a copy of course participant books.
Course Length: 22 hours
Certification: Upon successful completion of hands on skills demonstration, written test and practice teaching, students will receive a FA/CPR/AED Instructor certification valid for 2 years and will renew annually as long as you continue to teach.
Aquatics Programs
The American Red Cross is the leading provider of aquatics programs nationwide. From swim lessons to lifeguard training, the Red Cross helps community residents to enjoy water sports and activities safely.
Parent and Child Aquatics
Designed to orient young children (from ages 6 months to about 3 years) to the water and prepare them to learn to swim in the American Red Cross Preschool Aquatics or Learn-to-Swim courses. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or even to survive in the water on their own. Parent and Child Aquatics gives parents safety information and teaches techniques to help them orient their children to the water. It also provides directions regarding how to supervise water activities in a responsible manner. This program is a bonding experience that will fill instructors, parents and children with wonderful lifelong memories.
Preschool Aquatics
Teaches Aquatics and safety skills in a logical progression. It is composed of three levels. The object is to start teaching fundamental water safety and aquatic skills to children about 4 and 5 years of age. The program is designed to give participants a positive learning experience.
Learn-to-Swim
Our new Lear-to-Swim courses offer something for everyone. The six levels of Learn-to-Swim instruction help swimmers of all ages and varying abilities develop their swimming and water safety skills. It is designed to give students a positive learning experience. American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression.
- Level 1-Introduction to water skills, Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water.
- Level 2-Fundamental Aquatic Skills. Purpose: Give students success with fundamental skills.
- Level 3-Stroke Development, Purpose: Build on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.
- Level 4-Stroke Improvement, Purpose: Develop confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills.
- Level 5-Stroke Refinement, Purpose: Provide further coordination and refinement of strokes.
- Level 6-Swimming and Skill Proficiency, Purpose: Refines the strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances.
Lifeguard Training
This comprehensive course prepares participants for employment as lifeguards and features a streamlined modular format that allows for a flexible program designed to meet your needs. Key features include: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, Preventing Disease Transmission, Water park and Waterfront Lifeguarding. The course content and activities prepares candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, so they can prevent drownings and injuries.
Prerequisite: Must be 15 years old by the last day of training, and must be able to successfully complete the following pre test requirements:
- Swim 300 yards continuously.
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
- One try per pretest
Fee: Each facility sets their own fee based on the expenses associated with the training.
Course Length: Approximately 31 hours-you must attend all classes, no exceptions
Certification: Once candidates successfully perform all required skills, successfully complete three final skill scenarios and pass the written exam, they will receive a Lifeguard Training and First Aid Certificate valid for 3 years and a CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificate valid for 1 year.
Water Safety Instructor Training
This course trains instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue course, six levels of Learn-to-Swim, Preschool Aquatics and Parent and Child Aquatics.
Prerequisites: You must be at least 16 years of age by the last day of training, and have the ability to perform the following swimming skills:
- Swim-Front Crawl-25 yards, Back Crawl-25 yards, Breaststroke-25 yards, Elementary Backstroke-25 yards, Sidestroke-25 yards, and Butterfly-15 yards.
- Maintain position on back 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
- Thread water for 1 minute.
Fee: Each facility sets their own fee based on the expenses associated with the training.
Course Length: 30 hours-You must attend all sessions, no exceptions.
Certification: Once a candidate completes all reading assignments, participates in all activities, successfully completes all practice teaching assignments, and passes the final written exam, they will receive a Water Safety Instructor which is valid for 2 years and will renew annually as long as you continue to teach Water Safety courses.
Disaster Preparedness Training
Fulfilling Our Mission Translating Your Compassion into Community Action
This is a basic, entry level instructor-led course, which introduces potential disaster volunteers and members of other local agencies to the role of the Red Cross in the community's actions in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters. The course will enable individual volunteers to translate their care and compassion for their community into action and provide information to other community agencies on Red Cross work and possible partnership in preparation for and response to a disaster.
Shelter Operations
This instructor-led course is designed for the learners to acquire knowledge of Red Cross policies and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter during a disaster. The course includes lecture and group exercises. Cross and other agencies and community leaders who will be working on shelter.

Shelter Simulation
This instructor-led simulation is designed for learners to acquire knowledge of Red Cross policies and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter during a disaster. Required: Shelter Operations (ARC 3068-11, Rev. 09/05)
Materials: Participants should bring their workbooks from the Shelter Operations course (ARC 3068-11) for use during the simulation.
Client Casework
This is an instructor-led, video-supported course designed to train Red Cross caseworkers how to conduct effective client interviews and provide appropriate assistance to help meet a clients immediate disaster-caused or disaster-aggravated needs.
This learning experience consists of a series of short instructor and video presentations interleaved with class discussions, which focus on the skills, knowledge and attitudes required of a Red Cross caseworker. This learning experience culminates in an interactive, hands-on simulated activity during which participants are provided the opportunity to conduct interviews, assess client needs and determine the appropriate assistance, using the tools and resources available to caseworkers. The purpose of this basic disaster services course is to prepare Red Cross employees and volunteers to perform the tasks of an Individual Client Services casework service associate.
Psychological First Aid
This basic level Disaster Services course consists of five separate segments and a self-review questionnaire which is completed after the training has been completed. The course provides a framework for understanding the factors that affect stress responses in disaster relief workers and the clients they serve. In addition, it provides practical suggestions about what you can say and do as you practice the principles of Psychological First Aid. The purpose of this course is to prepare all American Red Cross workers to provide basic care, comfort and support to people who are experiencing disaster-related stress.

ERV Ready, Set, and Roll
This course is designed to provide learners with the opportunity to learn about and use an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and all related equipment. The purpose of this basic level Disaster Services course is to prepare Red Cross employees and volunteers to operate an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and its equipment safely and effectively to meet feeding and other service needs of people affected by disaster.

Logistics and Overview
This course is designed to give the learners an overview of the Material Support Services group and the activities associated with it. The course consists of lectures and group activities. The purpose of this course is to provide basic information about the processes of Material Support Services activities in support of an American Red Cross disaster relief operation. Participants will learn about the skills, abilities and knowledge needed by Material Support Services workers and how they can become involved in their local chapter.

Logistics Simulation
This course is designed to give the learners the opportunity to practice using the skills and knowledge from Logistics: An Overview. The purpose of this training is to provide participants an opportunity to practice the knowledge and skills needed to run a successful logistical operation in their local chapter.

Mass Casualty
Mass Casualty Disasters is an instructor-led and video-supported course designed to prepare employees and volunteers to plan for and respond to mass casualty disasters.
This course combines a series of presentations and class discussions which use real-world examples to explore the four types of mass casualty disasters and the planning and response role of the Red Cross as part of an overall community response. This interactive learning experience culminates in a thought-provoking simulation of a mass casualty event where participants form teams, representing a Red Cross chapter, and must make decisions during the first 24 hours following the disaster event.
