(location TBD - Tupelo, Oxford, Biloxi, Meridian, Jackson)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of Program Services within the state of MS.  This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and manages the MS Program Services Team, consisting of emergency services and preparedness and health and safety personnel.  Works in coordination with leadership volunteers, key government and community partners to operate a statewide service delivery system providing direct services to clients and communities.  The position directly and indirectly supervises multiple paid staff throughout the state.    

The staff person is responsible for building capacity and systems to respond to all recurrent and non-recurrent disasters utilizing teams of volunteers, professionals and community partners, including maintaining a capable Disaster Response Group. The program staff also manages the business development and preparedness program of the Preparedness, Sales and Marketing Group guided by the Preparedness Officer.  The Director ensures adherence to the standards, policies and procedures of the National American Red Cross. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Significant prior training in Red Cross disaster services preferred.  Minimum of 10 years of experience in program management, program budgeting, volunteer management, and planning required.  Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience with a proven track record of creating and maintaining a highly motivated workforce.  Excellent leadership, strategic planning and implementation skills, with the proven ability to excel in a creative, fast paced, changing environment.  Ability to work well under pressure with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.  Outstanding interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop and manage resources through collaboration with peers, management and individuals both inside and outside the organization.  Effective written and verbal communication skills.  Must be able to travel regularly throughout the state and at least once per year for a three-week period for national disaster assignment.  Be proficient in technology applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).  Be available for on-call as needed.
