Service to Armed Forces Coordinator, Part Time

Job Summary:

This will be a part-time, temporary position ending in June 2011. The SAF Coordinator will work 25 hrs a week at $12/ hour. Position is salary grant-funded and non- negotiable. The Service to Armed Forces Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Chapter’s Service to the Armed Forces Program in achieving the goals of the Chapter’s FY 2011 SAF Grant.  These program areas include the following: Get to Know Us Before You Need Us presentations (GTKU), Military Family Networking Groups (MFNG), and Information and Referral to military families in the community. The SAF Coordinator will also be responsible for overseeing the grant reimbursement process. Casework training will also be necessary to perform this job. The SAF Coordinator will report to the Emergency Services Director and Executive Director.

 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Grants management 
  • Promote Red Cross Service to Military Family programs in the community
  • Develop plan to educate military families about Red Cross Service to Military Families
  • Develop outreach plan to identify military families in the community
  • Present Get To Know Us presentations on base and to Family Readiness Groups
  • Establish and facilitate monthly Military Family Network meetings
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with community partners to deliver needed assistance and resources to military families
  • Maintain all required records and reports for FY 2011 SAF Grant
  • Other duties as required to accomplish program goals

 

Education and Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma   
  • Minimum of three years related experience in social or health sciences, community organization, or public administration
  • Must demonstrate outstanding relationship building, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Experience in program planning, development, and evaluation
  • Strong computer skills to include use of Internet/Intranet, Microsoft Office, and Red Cross internal computer systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (including public speaking and presentations) 
  • Work performed in an office environment 
  • Travel required  

 

Education and Skills Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Familiarity with military culture, regulations and protocol 
  • Experience with American Red Cross programs and services
