Bill Brent has committed his entire, 21-year, professional life serving in a succession of leadership positions within various nonprofit organizations, including the American Heart Association - Virginia and Mississippi Affiliates, South Mississippi AIDS Task Force and the Alliance of AIDS Services.
Having lived in South Mississippi from 1992-1997, Bill had a desire to return to the area following hurricane Katrina to help rebuild the community. Bill Brent was named executive director of the American Red Cross- Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter in July, 2006.
While this is the first professional position Bill has held with the American Red Cross, he considers himself life-timer with the organization having served as a Health and Safety instructor for more than 25-years. In addition to running to the day-to-day operations, he has become a certified disaster instructor and makes time to teach community disaster education courses.
Bill also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi State Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster and the Hancock County Long Term Recovery Committee.
